Term 1, Week 10, 4 April 2024
Principal Message
Dear St John's Community,
I hope everyone had a lovely Easter and enjoyed a break within the term.
Jesus is often referred to as the “Lamb of God” in Christian theology, symbolising his sacrificial role in atoning for the sins of humanity. Just as lambs were traditionally sacrificed in ancient religious rituals, Jesus willingly offered himself as the ultimate sacrifice on the cross.
This Easter, as a school last week, we reflected on his selfless act of love and redemption, we were reminded that through his sacrifice, we find forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life. Like a spotless lamb, Jesus was without sin, making him the perfect offering to reconcile humanity with God. His sacrifice is the cornerstone of our faith, demonstrating the depth of God’s love and mercy towards humanity. May the Risen Jesus be an inspiration as we embrace and celebrate the joy of new life and continue through the Holy Easter Season.
2024 is a Fete year for St John's and there is an important Fete Meeting Next Wednesday. See details below. All parents/guardians are welcome to attend this. It would be great to have as many community members as possible supporting this fantastic event.
Just a reminder that School Holidays Start on Friday 12th April, so the last day of Term 1 is Thursday 11th April, which is our Cross Country day.
Since this is our last newsletter for the term, I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable autumn break and we will see you for Term 2, which begins on Tuesday 30th April.

Catholic Education Week
Next week is Catholic Education Week. Catholic Education Week is an annual event that brings together our community in celebration of Catholic Education. It is an opportunity to celebrate our unique mission of enabling our students to experience the fullness of life, and to celebrate our thriving school community.
We are committed to faith-based learning that combines traditional and innovative learning opportunities with Catholic values including kindness, compassion, community and service. It is our mission to empower students to reach their full potential both in and out of the classroom.
I will be holding some Principal's Tours for prospective parents. If you know of anyone in the community whose children may be starting Kindergarten next year or who may be just looking for a change, please let them know.
2024 Annual Strategic Plan
Each year we publish a parent-friendly Annual Strategic Plan and share it with the community. Please find this below. This gives you a great insight into our direction for this year and our priority areas that we are focussing on and actions to achieve our goals.
Kind Regards,
Dave Bermingham

Open Classrooms for a Celebration of Learning
Next Monday, the 8th of April our regular assembly will commence at 1.50 pm. After assembly, parents and carers are invited to join students and teachers in the classrooms to celebrate learning. The children will have time to show you what they are most proud of, share their writing with you and showcase some of the work they have completed in other Key Learning Areas throughout the term.
This is a fitting way to celebrate Catholic Schools Week whilst acknowledging the wonderful efforts of our students. Of course, none of this would be possible without a dedicated team of teachers who plan, structure and facilitate a variety of learning experiences for the students of St John’s Catholic Primary School. Thank you to our staff and support staff who continually strive to get the best out of every child.
