Week 4 Term 1 2021
Principal's Message
Welcome to our first edition of our new formatted School Newsletter. It is exciting to have this new platform which allows us to link more information and even include videos.
Teacher Meet 'n' Greet
Our Teacher Meet 'n' Greet was held on Monday evening and families arrived at various times throughout the 4:30pm-6:00pm timeframe. It was great to see so many students excited about sharing their learning spaces and introducing their class teacher. It was also a lovely opportunity to catch up with families that due to covid guidelines haven't been onsite. We had a great turn out and of course children were excited about the winner on the VIP Playground Experience. The winner of the VIP expereince fo 2021 was Daniel. Finer details of class routines, term overviews and general call information is shared via Seesaw or the newsletter. The Term Overviews were included in our previous newsletter and at the beginning of each week all class teachers send out an outline of the week via Seesaw.
School Leaders
In ou past we have invested a great deal of time encouraging all students in year 6 to become leaders and lead with the qualities we hope to see from all our students. These are students of service just as our school motto "Servus Christi" asks us to be. Our school community excels when we all bring the quality of service to one another. This is not what can the school, or my parents or my peers do for me but rather what strengths and qualities can I bring to enrich the school community. Student leaders are also expected to model our school code of behaviour Respect, Safety, Effort and Self-Responsibility.
This year we are enhancing the leadership experience by seeking nominantions for students to take on more specific roles within the Year 6 Leadership expectations and this includes School Captain, Vice Captain, Sports Captain and MJR Captain roles. Students have submittted videos of their speech outlining their strengths that would make them the est candidate for each role. These videos will be shoen to all calsses and then voting will begin from both staff and students. Well done to those students stepping up and challenging themselves for these roles.

We are inviting all Kindergarten parents to join us for a Community Conversation to be held in the Hall on Monday 1st March from 4:30pm-6:oopm. Please see the flyer included in this newsletter. Please note there is a link to RSVP for this event.

Bus Safety Week 22-28 February
Each year, Bus Safety Week raises awareness for all road users on how to stay safe on and around buses. There is a 40km/h speed limit for traffic passing a school bus that is picking up or setting down school children. The speed limit is for all traffic travelling in the same direction as the bus, whether the bus is stationary or moving. The 40km/h speed limit must be observed when the rear ‘wig-wag’ lights on the bus are flashing. Flashing headlights on these buses also alert oncoming motorists that children are close.
We ask families to talk with their child about:
- Waiting until the bus has gone to cross the road safely.
- Not getting distracted by a mobile device.
- What do to if they get on the wrong bus or off at the wrong bus stop.
Please note as a duty of care. If your child is Year 3 or below, the Bus driver will not let a child off the bus if there is no parent/carer available to collect. If there is a change of plans for the afternoon. Please advise the school or contact the bus complany.
